Being an island on the Java trench, with the "drop off" only kilometers from the beach, makes this a prime location for fishing and freediving/spearfishing.

Large schools of fish feed and breed around the unspoilt reefs. During different times at the year commonly caught fish are: giant travelly, and many other travelly species, Spanish mackerel, marlin, sailfish, tuna, wahoo, Mahi Mahi and numerous reef fish.

Manta rays, whales and dolphins are not a rare sight as is not a barracuda launching itself to the skies.
